Cookie Policy

This page is short, because Montrus uses very few cookies. That is deliberate.
We do not use cookies to track you. There is no advertising, no analytics product, no tracking pixel and no third-party tracker anywhere in Montrus. Nothing here follows you to other websites, and nothing here is shared with an advertiser.
1. Cookies we set

That is the complete list of cookies we set ourselves.
2. Cookies our sign-in provider sets
Signing in requires a session, and that session is a cookie. Sign-in is handled for us by Clerk, which sets the cookies needed to keep you signed in and to protect your account from session hijacking and cross-site request forgery.
These are strictly necessary. Without them you cannot sign in, and blocking them will stop Montrus working. Clerk's cookie details are published in its own privacy documentation.
3. Other storage in your browser
Montrus also keeps a small amount of information in your browser's own storage
(localStorage and sessionStorage). This is not cookies. With one exception noted below, it
stays on the device you are using and is never sent to us. It exists so the interface behaves
sensibly.
Your preferences Light or dark theme · whether the sidebar is collapsed · which sections you have opened · which Mentor you chose.
Things you have already seen Whether you have finished a guided tour · whether you dismissed the install prompt or a nudge · whether you acknowledged the community guidelines · a visit counter used to decide when to offer the install prompt.

Short-lived caches So that revisiting a page in the same session does not re-run — and re-charge — an AI request.
An invitation code, if you arrived through someone's referral link. This is the exception: the code is held in your browser until you create an account, and is then sent to us once so we can credit the person who invited you. If you never sign up, it is never sent, and clearing your browser storage removes it.
Every key we set begins with montrus. Clearing your browser storage removes all of it. Nothing
is lost except those preferences — your account and your data are on our servers, not in your
browser.
4. What we do not use
Worth stating explicitly, because it is unusual:
- No analytics. No Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude, Segment or anything comparable.
- No advertising or marketing tags. No Meta Pixel, no Google Ads, no LinkedIn Insight Tag, no remarketing, no conversion tracking.
- No session recording or heatmaps.
- No social media tracking buttons. Our share links are plain links; they set nothing.
- No third-party fonts. Fonts are served from our own domain, so no font provider sees your visits.
- No cross-site tracking of any kind.
One third-party request, and only if you ask for it. If you turn on engagement reading during a live Mentor conversation, your browser downloads a face-detection model from two public services — jsDelivr and Google Cloud Storage. Those services see your IP address at the moment of the download, as any server does when your browser asks it for a file. They receive nothing else: no video, no image, and nothing about you. The reading itself runs entirely on your device. Leave engagement reading off and neither service is contacted. This is listed in our privacy policy and in the subprocessor annex to our data processing agreement.
Because we set no tracking or advertising cookies, Montrus does not show a cookie consent banner. The cookies we do set are either strictly necessary or record a choice you made yourself.
5. Managing cookies
You can delete or block cookies in your browser settings. Blocking the strictly necessary sign-in cookies will prevent you from using Montrus at all.
Montrus honours the browser setting for reduced motion, and respects your system's light or dark preference until you choose otherwise in Settings.
6. Changes
If we ever add a cookie that is not on this page, we will update it first, and if the new cookie requires your consent we will ask for it before setting it — not afterwards.
